Christmas in Leamington

The Christmas lights are all aglow

as I walk on down the street.

A radiant, twinkling gust of snow

is swirling down to meet

me as I head up into town

on this November night.

This incandescence beams, a crown

upon these freezing streets alight.

About Christmas in Leamington

This short poem was written on site in Royal Leamington Spa, and follows the poet walking up the high street, the Parade, and admiring the Diwali and Christmas lights. The poem is simple in form, with alternating rhyme, befitting of the simple pleasures of pretty lights and gentle snow. The poem is, in fact, unfinished, however - written largely at a bus stop, the arrival of a bus prompted the poet to move on, leaving the poem with just eight lines.
